Prof. Shalini Sharma is Dean, School of Economics & School of Public Policy with MIT WPU, Pune. She has more than 26 years of teaching, research, training & administration experience. She consistently has a first class academic career throughout and has earned two University Medals for standing first in B.A. Economic Hons. and M.A. Economics from Punjabi University, Patiala. She was awarded Ph.D. in Economics in 2004 from Aligarh Muslim University (central university) , Aligarh titled “An Empirical Study of Determination of Food grain Prices in Indian Economy” under the guidance of Prof. Ashok Mittal. The overseas examiner of her thesis was Prof. Anne Carter of Harvard University, student of Nobel Laureate W.W. Leontief.
She became a Professor in 2007. Her area of research is Development Economics. She has authored/co-authored more than 51 research papers in reputed Indian and foreign professional journals. She has also presented more than 75 research papers individually/jointly in various national and international conferences abroad. She was awarded the AICTE full travel grant for presenting papers in the 16th International Input-output Conference in Istanbul, Turkey and was also given travel grant to present papers in Brazil, U.S.A , China etc. She has delivered a number of inaugural addresses and chaired several sessions in national/international conferences.
She has worked on various research projects sponsored by UNESCO, Northern India Manufacturers Association, Panacea Biotech, etc.
Several Ph.D thesis have been awarded under her supervision. Latest Ph.D. awarded under her supervision is to Ms. Jasneek Arora (2020) of Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, on the topic “Role Of Micro And Small Scale Enterprises In Women Empowerment In India: A Case Study Of National Capital Region”.
She has organised various National/International conferences, FDP’s, MDP’s. She is a trained trainer and has undergone various trainings at IIPA, Delhi. While working with National Power Training Institute (An autonomous body under Ministry Of Power) as Principal Fellow she has conducted various training programmes for Power grid, IPGCL, Evonik, Ratnagiri power Corp., DTL, BHEL, HPGCL etc. at NPTI and was also involved in power audit along with EVONIK group for the Ministry. She was also the coordinator of the Allahabad Bank Training of 5 weeks and induction training program of BHEL etc.
Prof. Shalini Sharma is member of BOS (Board of Studies) and Academic Council of many Universities. She has worked with several leading Universities and established various departments/schools. She has coached various teams of faculty, students & research scholars towards academic excellence and skill enhancement with research at its epicentre. Structured the academic and administrative procedures and led the teams to achieve their highest goals through various training and FDP sessions. Integrated the programs of humanities & social sciences, management and commerce into a flexible choice-based credit system for UG,PG and Ph.D. programs according to the International & national standards and requirements. The Schools under her leadership have received various accolades in the form of industry interaction/interface, placements, conferences, publications, research projects, to mention a few. She also led the departments/schools/ universities for various accreditations like NAAC, NIRF, WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges, USA) , UGC and successfully achieved the same.
